About Matt Buxton, MAI, SRA

Matt is the Principal of Southwest Property Consultants, the leading real estate valuation firm in Nevada.

Matt has lived in Southern Nevada with his family since 1997, when he moved here to attain a Master’s Degree in Hotel Administration from UNLV. After working several years as a manager in prestigious locations such as Red Rock Country Club and Turnberry Place, Matt entered the world of real estate appraisal gaining extensive experience in both residential and commercial properties.

Known as a hard-worker with a strong personal code of ethics, Matt excelled as a Residential and Commercial Appraiser at the respected appraisal firms of Perkins Enterprises and Lubawy & Associates. He was later promoted to the position of Director at the national firm Landauer Valuation & Advisory, a Division of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. While there, he supervised over the valuation of billions of dollars in real estate in one of the nation’s leading valuation companies. Matt specialized in complex assignments for clients including high value capital market assets and portfolios.

Matt left to form his own valuation firm Southwest Property Consultants in 2012. During his career, assignment types have been wide and varied including complex residential properties, subdivisions, apartments, land, retail centers, restaurants, office buildings, industrial properties and special purpose properties. Matt has also been involved in government work and condemnation including the appraisal of right-of-ways and easements. Clients have included national and local lending institutions, investors, public agencies, attorneys and developers. Because of his experience in Argus DCF Cash Flow modeling, Matt is often requested for multi-tenant assignments.

Matt holds the MAI and SRA designations in the Appraisal Institute, recognized as the highest professional standard within the appraisal industry. He loves to call Southern Nevada his home and travels extensively throughout Nevada and areas of California and Arizona on various real estate assignments.
